Nos Terrae.'(Latin - Life After Us.)
Oppression in Australia began in 1788 with the declaration of Terra Nullius. Since then, a culture of ignorance has been perpetuated and stems from the suffering of the earth and Australia’s indigenous peoples. Invasion developed the country enormously, with white bay power station representing a pivotal moment for technology in history; settler-colonialism, however, directly correlates to the destruction of the environment around us. Nos Terrae, Latin for life after us, explores the relationship between a healing earth and the built environment in a way that manifests and supports culture and cultural production. Grounded in sustainability, the hub aims to educate and facilitate creative practice in ways that benefit the community and the environment. The hub focuses on returning the architecture back to the earth on which it sits, back to the neighbouring community, and back to the traditional owners of the land, The Wangal Peoples of The Eora Nation.
