Strength

The vision is to create a calming and healthy environment which addresses and assists people who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress and other mental health illnesses. This project is inspired by the number of Australians suffering from poor mental health and who do not have access to care. The increase of mental health issues in 2020, with the stress of bushfires and the current Covid-19 pandemic, has more people experiencing a significant loss in their lives. PTSD often comes as a result of experiencing loss and life-changing events. The White Bay Power Station redesign will aim to create spaces which respond to the grieving process many go through after experiencing loss. By doing this, the design will cater for all people’s needs, no matter what stage they are at in their mental health recovery. The design will aim to develop strong supportive community relationships and spaces to reflect, contemplate and talk about mental health. Communities must join together, supporting another more than ever before.
