The Catalyst
The White Bay Power Station renewal project is an exploration of the role of adaptive reuse interi-ors in the wider context of increasing urban resilience. In the current context where insecurity of food, stability and the future are in question communities are in dire need of a ray of hope and push in the right direction.
Through a series of immersive experiences within the urban farm network people are able to re-connect to the long-lost ecology of the site through the manufactured ecosystem. Groups gather together to learn, to feast, to forage and connect. The proposal encompasses a planet centric philosophy and treads lightly within the heritage envelope it is located within. It aims to change minds and embrace all kinds of life to create a future where urban centres are able to self-sustain again and live in harmony with its surroundings.
