Vireo

The rapid growth in highly populated cities and urbanisation across the world is having negative ef-fects on our planet and its inhabitants. Having limited contact with nature, exposure to pollutants and the social stressors of living in high density urban areas can negatively affect a person’s mental health, wellbeing and sense of identity.

Vireo aims to support young people in their exploration of identity and nourishment of personal wellbeing. This will be accomplished through passive and active engagement with culture, informal interactions and rest. These activities will broaden visitors understanding of heritage, place, identi-ty and relationships, resulting in a strengthened sense of personal wellbeing. Vireo will use the de-vices of engagement with culture and biophilic design to create an urban oasis for young people where they can thrive within their community.
