Through human civiliSation's development and expansion, civic activities and natural environment has been influencing and resisting each other. With the altered ecosystems and threatened biodiversity, what is the correct way to get along with nature has become a struggling issue to human society. As the environmental organisations recognised, oceans, pollution, infrastructure development nuclear power and food as the biggest issuew. Yet society holds the power to change the situation. Rozelle, where the WBPS is located, is deeply connected with environmental topics due to its historical context and community culture. THe former role of WBPS a coal burning power generating factory, is also closely related to the relationship between climate and urban living mode. This makes the site a perfect media to merge the information and present a new possibility. Sunken Civilisation aims on creating a new combination of architecture and natural elements, hence offering a platform for the visitors to experience as well as reconsider the relationship between human civilisation and natural power. Maintaining various functions (exhibition, restaurants, community spaces), the space can also inform visitors and encourage them to think voluntarily.
