Underpinning some of humanity’s most critical progressions through invention and innovation are mechanisms enabling the communication between humans and the world around them. This proposal honours a momentous piece of the historic lattice of the La Perouse Headland, with the former Cable House marking the first point of communication between Australia and the rest of the world. The La Perouse Museum and Centre of Communications guides visitors through an exhibitory timeline following methods used by the Indigenous owners of the land, the Gadigal people, through to those of today and the future. The community is engaged through a focus upon storytelling, the incorporation of community upskilling workshops and an Indigenous Language School.
