Displacement has been historically associated with hostility towards groups and individuals on a universal scale in macro and micro forms. This intrinsically links to the chronology of La Perouse’s complex social and cultural origins.

The centre will offer understanding and reflection to disassociate the negative connotation of displacement and actively restore recognition of this population. To propel the essence of the origins of La Perouse, the narrative of the delicately intrusive architecture as a enlightened understanding of an ongoing circumstance exploring the fundamental communal and individual complexities. The design intent of the La Perouse Headland and Bare Island aims to develop a large-scale civic and adaptive re-use site using a human-centric approach to redefine the term ‘Displaced People’
