The Core

The focus of “THE CORE” is to transform La
Perouse into an aquatics and education precinct
by reconnecting and revitalising the historical
aspect of La Perouse through the programs and
spaces offered such as the temporary exhibition
space, live workshops/classes and Peter Cooley
programs that educate the public about the
Aboriginal history and the origins of the site.

The environmental aspect is captured throughout
the spaces through the integration of
transparency, spatial connection and views
creating opportunities to reflect and immerse
with the surrounding Botany Bay waters and
headland.

The physical aspect is carried through in the
programs and activities offered at the Bare Island
community civic center such as the scuba divers,
snorkelers tank and community pool and baths
located on the top of the island providing a 360
view of Botany Bay forming that continuous
connection with the site.
