BaySpace is a creative centre striving to empower communities through the investigation and ex-change of traditional and contemporary practices.
Whilst manufacturing industries are in decline, the nation’s identity as a skilled producer of the crafts has increasingly strengthened. BaySpace examines if a considered generation of intellectual property can become a renewed form of manufacturing for the city.
Creating singular and temporal spaces that value craftsmanship, and innovative fabrication processes can provoke intrigue and discussion, revealing the enormous variety and aesthetic scope of sustain-able applications and experiences. By sparking curiosity and play through a diverse community-led program, the proposal encourages practice, up skilling and enterprise in creating a more imaginative and vibrant city.
