A Canvas for Maximum Creative Output
186MW reinvisions White Bay Power Station’s existing use as a coal power station which created an electrical output for the community. It commemorates this process by reimagining the historical coal to power output to a more positive and empowering output through creative expression.
The output process is reimagined within a contemporary context, responsive to key issues in today’s society to instead produce positive output for Rozelle in 2o21 and onwards. The proposal 186MW a is contemporary community arts centre which combats the lack of freedom the community of Rozelle has experienced during COVID by allowing individuals to express themselves artistically and to create a positive outlet for the local community. It functions as a canvas; the movements of each user acting as brushstrokes with each user’s experience and input adding a layer to enrich it. The new function of the space aims to create an even higher level of positive output than the existing power station; a level higher than 186MW.
