The Paramorph

The Paramorph at White Bay Power Station is not only a design proposition but a philosophy – a way of rethinking the way we regard Sydney’s industrial, abandoned spaces.

The Paramorph reclaims the White Bay Power Station for Sydney’s creative community. It invades its host, it punctures through the existing voids - right through to the ceiling, it latches on to the existing steel structure and pushes through the building’s façade. The Paramorph slices away at the ground floor façade and creeps out into the surround forecourt.

What is left is an invaded, revitalised structure bursting with free, flexible creative studio pods. In exchange for hiring these free spaces, the artists that occupy them display their work, as an exhibition, throughout the site as well as offering free classes to the general public. It is not cheap as an artist in Sydney and The Paramorph recognises that.
