ALCHEMY
Situated in the highly education rate climate of Rozelle, the proposition responds to the future development needs by offering a Technology Based Future Focus Civic Center. Functionalized as a civic knowledge sharing and recreation center, the project utilises communal open space as an exlir or panacea to revive the decayed power station and transcend the orginal function of physically delivering energy into the new utilisation of expressing culturally and spiritually to the society. This proposition occupied an historic industrial building, located at the center of inner west industrial belt, to raise aspiration about the future vision and development.
Alchemy represents the exploration of the existing objects, materials and forms and re-mix them with new function and intentions in order to imbue the building, the site and the surrounding areas new vitality which alters the vibe from desolate to mindful and inspiring. It is transformed from delivering physical energy to generating spiritual energy to the society and ultimately not only stiffen up the faith of the citizens but also illuminate the road ahead, dispel the anxiety and uncertainty as well.
