ROCKY
20 DEGREES
20° will be a centre that shifts culture in Sydney towards a sustainable future. It will aim to provide spaces that are accessible for all, engaging to the community and compatible with the existing site in the small and large scale.
Spaces will be developed to be beneficial to the preserving of Sydney’s diverse cultural history, expression of a flourishing cultural community and the maintaining the heterogenous identity of Sydney. To communicate this act of shifting through design, existing and new elements of the White Bay Power Station will be shifted 20 degrees to align with 20 goals, that symbolises the look to a brighter cultural future in Sydney as well as the transformation of a once influential site of Sydney’s early industrial growth to a new prominent place for cultural sustainability. These changes to the landmark building will also expand views and provide direct visual connections from the site to museums and galleries all across Sydney.
