GROW

The dialogue between building and nature.

Transforming what once was a progressive industrial operation, the now dormant White Bay Power Station must be revitalised to reclaim what was once lost - the natural habitat and place of wellbeing for the community of Rozelle.

Paramount to the design is the aspect of land rehabilitation which looks at planting and preserving native and endangered Australian flora which will in turn become a new attraction for residents and tourists.

The new design will address aspects of the physical site through organic materiality and simple joining methods. These hold relationship to the First Australians where nature was abundant and unaffected by urbanisation. Grow conveys the story of a built environment that works in synergy with established plant species.
