Resuscitate
Decommissioned in 1984, the White Bay Power Station stands as an abandoned carcass which has imprinted a irreversible pollutive scar on our planet. What used to be the coal-powered electrical lungs of Sydney has now become lifeless and surrounded by the toxic emissions of air, water and waste pollution. “Resuscitate” will revive the remains of the White Bay Power Station through its transformation into a creative centre for innovation in sustainable practises. What was originally a pollutive machine will now become a space to research, learn and innovate towards a clean breathable future. The proposal embodies the narrative of acknowledging the past, present and future of the site. A journey which stimulates the senses whilst educating users on tackling waste and their pivotal role in the future of sustainability. Each architectural form references the existing details of machinery alongside a creative emphasis of showcasing waste into materiality. Step into the journey of the five experiences and let’s reimagine the future of sustainability.
