HANNAH
THE BAY HALL
The Bay Hall is a community centred precinct in the heart of Rozelle. This iconic site holds a deep history for the city of Sydney and the local community. It has been renewed and revitalised for contemporary community use. The White Bay Power Station once provided power to the city; The Bay Hall gives the power, through connection to community, back to the people.
The design of this building was developed based on five of the primary emotions that shape all human experiences and interactions: happiness, anger, sadness, fear, and surprise. These emotions are represented through the key spaces within the Bay Hall, creating universal and shared experiences for visitors.
The space provides the community with the opportunity to grow and evolve, as they collectively experience and overcome the emotions evoked through the key spaces, and any challenges these may pose. Additionally, the Bay hall is a landmark destination for community use, strengthening the identity of the community it serves.
