OASIS
The movement to re-purpose the White Bay Power Station revolves around the recent environmental and social tragedies that have occurred from 2019 up until today, particularly in Australia. Through creating an oasis for creative and social nourishment through biophilic designs that will promote wellness by facilitating relaxation and restoration and enhancing a combination of physical and mental healing. What was once known for its industrial past, will now be a safe space where people can rejuvenate and experience the important things moving into the city is lacking. The Oasis aims to provide a highly biophilic space that will assist people to breathe easier. The journey through the Oasis begins in the forecourt known as The Yard, a place that promotes wellness and nourishment through forest bathing; a mindfulness therapy where you bathe yourself in nature. The next place of journey is the gallery which is inspired from the first nation peoples’ land. Next, is the stairs where each step up activates the sound of flora and fauna, a way to reconnect to nature. The other space is the library, a place to innovate, research and learn. Lastly, is the Restaurant for a biophilic dining experience.
