BULGA

Facilitating the journey through a historically rich site. The land which now hosts the white bay power station is one steeped in history. Bulga will transform the dormant industrial shell into a space which challenges perceptions and understandings of the site and its history. The site will be recognised in its position upon stolen land from generations before, adapted to revitalise and celebrate the diverse cultures of people of the eora nation.

Standing like a mountain on the shoreline, the white bay power station will utilise its size and use it to carry a narrative special experience throughout its interior which aims to challenge, confront, and celebrate. Its industrial characteristics will not be erased completely, but rather adapted and morphed to create unique special experiences for each visitor. Visitors will come away from bulga with a new perspective on several issues, including the erasure of aboriginal culture during white settlement, to more recent issues such as climate change.
