THE MESSY CREATIVE
‘The messy creative’ proposes a new mechanism of production in creative energies that revitalises the site and reflects on the former uses of the white bay power station as a machine during the industrial generation. A vibrant hub for the community and emerging artists, ‘the messy creative celebrates chaotic innovation and exposes the messy processes behind artistic creation to stimulate a desire for unknown possibilities.
This proposal traces the neurological stages of creative processes to invite visitors to navigate the intersections between the human mind, body and space, and become a part of its activation. To encourage fearless experimentation emphasis of the value of the “imperfect” or “rebellious’ is crucial and most obvious in its application to material construction and detail. Waste and residue from construction sites. Industrial production, and organic food processes is re-evaluated as surface finishes that reveal its stories through scratches, marks, and dents, illustrating the past and potential spirits of intraction between human and object while facilitating new behaviours toward waste reduction.
