As Sydney’s first city island, Mesmeric is an architecture that marks time.A multi-sensory architectural experience that utilises creative placemaking to redefine time perception through reconstructing the link between cognitive make-up, the making, and the appreciating of art in the sensorial and multifaceted dimensions. An ever-increasing proportion of our lives is spent in supermarkets, airports, and hotels, on motorways or in front of TVs, computers, and cash machines. This unprecedented invasion of the world results in a profound alteration of awareness: something we perceive, but only in a partial and incoherent manner. This is the product of supermodernity that still spans to every individual that is decentred from himself more than ever. Mesmeric intends to challenge this modernist global climate to reshape the perception of time through the lens of creative placemaking with the intangible creative process and interconnected physical environment interventions.
